Camp Woodruff

Posted on Feb 21 2017 - 7:56pm

Summer camp is right around the corner and the Troop needs to make a payment to the camp this month.  We estimate the cost will be $515 per Scout. It may be less if we have successful funraising with our car show.  If you would like to attend a fantastic summer camp at Camp Woodruff this summer please plan on making a deposit payment of $120 by the end of February.  See Mrs. Heim if you would like to use funds already in your scout account.

$120 Deposit now due - February
$150 payment #2 - March
$150 payment #3 - April
TBD final payment - May

Seabase payments are due

Posted on Feb 14 2017 - 7:34am

Please make sure you catch up with Mrs Heim and get your payments in.  Our final payment to Sea Base is due in March.  You can check with her to get your balance.
Also, make sure all scouts read the manual that was given to you.  It will give valuable information about the trip!

It's time for Merit Badge Counselor Renewal/Registration.  Do you work in an industry that corresponds with one of the merit badges?  Do you have a hobby or interest that corresponds with one of the merit badges? If so, the Troop would love to have you register as a Merit Badge Counselor.
Check out http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/BoyScouts/AdvancementandAwards/MeritBadges.aspx to see the entire list of merit badges. How do you become a MB counselor?  Complete a counselor registration form http://www.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/34405.pdf, complete online Youth Protection training https://www.gulfstreamcouncil.org/youth-protections, attend a one time MB counselor training course.

The Troop 132 Philosophy

Posted on Oct 19 2015 - 11:42am

Troop 132 is based on the Patrol Method of scouting and is “Boy” led, with adult supervision for guidance and safety. Elections are held every 6 months for Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) and Patrol Leaders. Other positions are appointed by the SPL, with guidance from the Scoutmaster. The activities from camping to service projects are planned and run by the boys, as they learn what leadership style works best for them.  We have had 168 Eagle Scouts sprout from our ranks and have numerous Life scouts planning Eagle projects for the near future. Some of our Eagle scouts have returned and are serving as ASM’s for our troop. We have a troop bus, which allows us to travel together each month to our camping destinations, while keeping the costs down. We love parental involvement as is evidenced by the long list of ASM’s, committee members and merit badge counselors. We would love to add your son or grandson and you to our Troop family!
